The University of Mebourne Sudanese-Australian Media Training
Program.
The program constitutes a pilot intended as a longer term project that aims to
demonstrably improve the level of media understanding, access, representation,
and opportunities for Sudanese migrants in the mainstream Australian media.
The University of Melbourne Institute of Advanced Journalism will facilitate the
trainig and project itself, in conjunction with many Australian media houses
including the ABC and print media.
It is a great opportunity through which Sudanese people in Australia can
represent themselves and improve relations and understanding within the
community.
Design of the project:
-8weeks
-4 hours per week
-minimum of 15 participants
-cover basic writing techniques
-cover media context and media management
-mentorship with journalists
Outcomes
-knowledge of basic writing and journalism skills
-opportunity to practice writing for publication
-opportunity to be published
