Basic Hospitality Skills Training

5 week course – 12 hours per week

AMES Community offers Basic Hospitality Skills training with “Sorghum Sisters and Canteen Plus”.

Basic Hospitality Skills is hands on training that involves 12 hours p/w study in 3 weeks plus 5 days Practical Placement.

Training also includes:

• First week - Language and Literacy training  plus ongoing language and literacy support during the training
• Last week - Job Search training  plus ongoing job search support for 4 weeks (1 day per week) after training completion

The following modules will be delivered:

CORE

THHCOR03B – Follow health, safety and security procedures

THHHCO01B – Develop and update hospitality industry knowledge

THHGHS01B – Follow workplace hygiene procedures (food safety)

ELECTIVES

THHBKA03B – Receive and store kitchen supplies

THHBKA04B – Clean and maintain kitchen premises

Timetable: 

Information session:  19^th February 2008 at AMES Community – 1/27 Albert Street, Footscray at 11am

Structured and hands on training (2 days per week) – Monday and Tuesday from 9:30am – 3pm

Practical placement (5 days) with Sorghum Sisters and/or Canteen Plus

Commencement date:  25^th February 2008

Finish date: 17 March 2008

Course cost:  $55 for concession card holders or $1.37 per student contact hour. 

·     If a student withdraws and gives written notice within the first 4 weeks of the course a refund minus the minimum fee ($55) must be given.

·     If the withdrawal is to take up a place in another institution, a full refund must be given.

This is an accredited training and the Statement of attainment will be issued upon successful completion.
